I wanted to feel immersed in what it would be like to walk across the stage and feel the victory of sharing this achievement with my classmates. Then I heard it, a sentence that captured what I was looking for right at the end of a verse in Drake’s “Congratulations.”
“And the visual is stunning, I hope they document what I’m becoming, Congratulations” was reimagined to “and the visual is stunning, I hope they document what we’re becoming.
It was the missing piece to a speech that had been edited by teachers and undergone rehearsal for weeks, but it was the stroke of genius 48 hours before my speech that made all the difference.
